AFNOR
Abbreviation of “French Association of Normalization”. It establishes and publishes, among others, standards on essential oil.

Emanation
Smell whose gets free spontaneously of a Raw material.

Fixative
Unfit term indicating natural nice-smelling products or synthesis to height molecular weights intended to increase the tenacity of a composition and to prolong in the time its olfactive perception.

Odour
Volatile substance perceived by the olfactive system. In perfumery applies more particularly to raw materials or notes simple by opposition to smell which applies to the smell more elaborated by a finished product.

Blotter
Quality of special paper (without glue), very absorbing, cut in fine strips intended to be dipped into a raw material or a composition and which allows the professionals: chemists, Perfumers-Creators, etc., by olfaction, to appreciate the quality and to follow the evolution by it.
